What is That?
I'm closing on a house next week and during our private home inspection, they pointed to this on the back of the house and asked "what is that?"
Older people will not only know what it is, but they probably seen it in action. I don't remember it being used, but I knew what it was from when I was a kid. We hid stuff in there- hot wheel cars, baseball gloves, unfinished sandwiches, etc.
Well, it's "original" use was a Milk Chute.
That's right, kids. There really WAS a milkman and he brought milk around to the houses. He's put fresh bottles of milk in there and the home owner would open the door on the other side, take it out and put it in the fridge.
You'd leave your empty bottles in there for him to take back to the shop, and refill.
Pretty cool, eh?
