Old School Summer.
I just read a post on FB that said something to the effect of "it's time to sign up the kids for summer activities."
I do sign my kids up for a few things during the summer, but it made me think back a little.
When I was a kid, parents didn't sign us up for anything.
Our summer activities were riding our bikes, playing baseball for countless hours, building "forts" in the woods, catching snakes, etc.
Wow.
I wonder if I should sign my kids up for that?
Don't get me wrong. I know we all work a lot and times are different. And I'm not the parent that doesn't let my kids play video games or go online. I just think they need to get more physical activity with real people.
And I think it should be a regular part of their daily routine, not just when they're forced to by being signed up for thing.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
