2012 Leaf Pickup in Livonia, MI, Round 1

It's that time of year again!

Livonia has an awesome leaf pickup program.

You just rake or blow them out into the street and the trucks come by and scoop or vacuum them up!

Put leaves in street      Livonia takes them away

Here's the scedule:

Leaf pickup schedule

Here are some of the rules:

  • Do not place leaves in ditches or far back from the roadway.
  • Leaves only - Do not mix in other debris (NO sticks, branches, grass).
  • Please remove parked cars from the street on your scheduled pickup day.
  • Residents may also dispose of leaves on their weekly refuse pickup day.   Place leaves and other yard waste in garbage cans marked with a yard waste sticker or in paper compost bags.  Yard waste containers should be separated from regular trash containers.
  • LEAVES PLACED IN PLASTIC BAGS CANNOT BE PICKED UP.
  • Should inclement weather or other circumstances occur, any area not completed on the scheduled pickup date will be completed as close to the scheduled date as possible.

Pretty sweet, isn't it?

Hey, that's pretty cool. I didn't even know they had that kind of thing. Then again leaves don't fall off trees in my neck of the woods. :)

Nate, it's pretty cool. As the cooler temperatures come in, the leaves die off and fall to the ground. lol

Eric,

I love that. Around here we have to bag them for pickup. It takes so long to do it that way.

Eric. Now that is service. We have to rake and bag here. My neighbour has had 27 bags and still more to go with the final days of fall.

Good stuff E.  Al of my leaves are gone already.  It seems like all of the leaves here fell of the trees in a few days.

Rich, it's awesome. I don't have any trees in my yard, but I still get a lot of leaves from the neighbor across the street.

Valerie, 27 bags and not done? That makes my back hurt.

Jared, that's cool. Beats dragging it out.
